French graphic novels
The Alliance Francaise de Seattle is spending a week celebrating French graphic novelists. David B., the author of Epileptic, will be at most of the events. Tonight there was a lecture about the more influential French graphic novels. Kim Thompson, co-owner of Fantagraphic books in Georgetown, presented a slideshow of the 20 French artists who were influential in developing the graphic novel from what was considered a children’s medium into an adult art form. It was absolutely fantastic and engrossing. There was a random drawing for ten or so copies of Epileptic or a limited editon poster by David B. I won a poster! To top it all off, there was a reception with wine and french pastries made by a local french bakery. Oh, and the whole night, as well as most following events, was free. I can’t wait to meet David B. and get my poster signed.
