"Camping" Bananas Foster
When we decided to spend a night yurt camping, I think my boyfriend expected me to provide simple food, like hotdogs. He clearly underestimated my ability to over-complicate a menu. I marinated the lamb steaks in red wine with rosemary and fennel seed and wrapped the scallops in bacon. Grilled some mushrooms and asparagus, along with potatos wrapped in foil and buried in the fire’s embers-...

Thoughts on Lost Girls
There is some debate over whether Lost Girls is pornography, art, or filth. Some are outraged simply by the idea of portraying children in a sexual manner, whether there is any truth to the subject or not. Alan Moore set out to create pornography, but he wanted to make something bigger than that as well. The difference between most pornography and Lost Girls is this: most pornography has no...

DVORAK
OK, Alien might be a bit strong of a word. If you’re used to typing on a QWERTY keyboard, like 99% of computer users, the below image feels really odd; However, the dvorak key positions are based around the letters used most often in the english language. It’s easier to reach the more common keys, and thus easier to type quickly and efficiently. At least, it will be, after I learn it...

Stereotypes
Cory: Ok, so you have to buy this book to teach you the command to get her to sleep with you.
Me: Wow, it's almost as hard to get a lesbian in Fable 2 in bed as it is in real life.
(vague, pg-13 sexual noises ensue from the T.V.)
Cory: Haha! well, that was fun.
Me: She just walked out! So much for cuddle time.
Cory: She's probably going to get her U-haul.

Cosmocopia
Cosmocopia is a surrealist story that takes place in an alternate universe. It relies on the strange environment to do most of the storytelling. This is my first book by Paul Di Fillipo. I found out about the book through Fantagraphics bookstore. While advertising for the limited edition book claims that it is illustrated by Jim Woodring, creator of the Frank comics, this is far from the truth....
The Graveyard Book
Neil Gaiman is satisfying and addicting. Unlike most authors these days he knows how to tell a fantastic story with a deeper meaning below the surface, instead of assorted contrived meanings with a fantastical story thrown in. The Graveyard book is a very entertaining story about a boy who grows up in a graveyard and is raised by ghosts and other supernatural creatures. It also happens to be an...

Mom: All those old people look like grown up hippies.
Dad: Because they are.
Me: You didn't prepare for this very well, did you?
Bird Master
I have a friend who has learned a little about crows, such as the below video. He also told me about a guy that trained crows to bring spare change to his balcony in exchange for peanuts. So now he goes to the park and is trying to train a crow fleet to do his bidding. I can see him now, exiting the park, birds clinging to his limbs while cawing and attacking nearby pedestrians.
This is a video about crows. Fascinating. It’s a bit long, but very interesting. *And* educational!

Grand Hallway at Chop Suey
These guys are great. They remind me why I ever wanted to play violin. Seattle was at it’s usual indifference. Polite applause after beautiful, heart wrenching songs. After the set and the three musicians were quietly packing up, I went up to the stage and told them how great they are. I’m sure they were fine without the ego boost- they’ve toured to Japan and all over the west...
